How To Help Keep Your Anxious Child Calm

It is common and natural to have anxiety during childhood. Calming the emotions of your anxious child is important. You can help your child to calm down with the use of various effective strategies that can control their feelings and thoughts.

Deep breathing is considered to be the best way to overcome anxiety. Teach your child to practice deep breathing whenever in deep stress. Daily meditation and yoga can also help your anxious child to gain effective control over emotions and remain relaxed throughout the entire day.  Regular exercises can also help in increasing the focus of your child and calming them. During anxious times, your child needs to feel safe. Make sure to deal with your child in a very supportive and soothing manner to help them relax and feel protected. Teaching your child that anxiety is normal can help them understand that they are not alone.

Empathize with your child in stressful situations. Once your child calms down, discuss with them the cause of the anxiety, and try finding effective solutions that can be used in future situations. Eventually, you must allow your child to solve their own problems (to a certain extent). This will help them learn methods to manage and handle problems better.

At the end of the day, help your child learn how to keep their mindset positive. Staying positive will help them deal with the obstacles of life that may come their way.

Enrolling your child in a day-care centre or early learning program can foster healthy development and help them establish skills to deal with anxiety and stress.

At Childventures Early Learning Academy, we help prepare children for their own
“course of life” and use our time together to create the building blocks of life-long learning.
