Top skills Taught to Children in Early Childhood Education

Are you a busy parent? Statistically, the number of families where both the husband and wife are working is drastically growing and is also benefiting the economy in various ways. But what about your toddler at home? While day-care centres are the best option for parents and their children, it also the first experience for a child to be in an atmosphere with other children and teachers. It’s a wonderful place to learn, interact and make friends at an early age. These are the top skills taught to children in day-care centres:

1.     Social Development - A day-care centres program is aligned to nurture social interaction through trust building activities with teachers, parents, and peers. To gain social development skills, the child needs to be in a secure and trustworthy environment. Teachers encourage the toddlers without punishing them or impacting negatively.

2.     Cognitive and Language Skills - Providing the toddler a language-rich environment can help them to develop early cognitive and language skills with kick starting their vocabulary. Social activities like singing, talking about your favourite colour and telling stories from books can help children age 3-6, improvise their language skills.

3.     Child Curiosity - Children are naturally curious in the early years of their life, the child’s interest is peaked. Curiosity aligned with imagination in their early years can help the toddler nuture creativity.

4.     Prepare for Schooling - Day-care or preschool is the stepping stone to future schooling. A good centre can provide children the tools they require at the next level. Collaboration with parents is critical in the early stages and personalized growth is the key to success. A day-care needs to be chosen wisely as it can impact the learning for the rest of their lives.

5.     Motor Skills & Analytical - In early childhood, games, and activities that promote reading and mathematics skills can really benefit the child in the long run. Activities for enhancing motor skills can include visual games, singing, counting and associations. Interactive learning at this stage can speed up learning and make it a great activity for the child.
